EJ/JV Brightness
I know some folks have said the EJ Strat is bright guitar, but I haven't found that to be the case with mine.
At any rate, roll off the treble and it'll get low down and dirty.

Mine's Not
My JV is not what I would consider a bright sounding guitar. The neck pup is thick and balanced. The bridge get's bright but not tele bright. I haven't messed with the height adjustment but I'm sure I could get it to be very bright.
