don't need it. should i buy it?

(what a question to ask THIS crowd!)

but hear me out: the pawnshop downstairs from my office has a mexican strat for $159. i put it on hold so i could consult my panel of experts. ("experts" being shorthand for "the spectators at the firing squad who stand in the bleechers shouting 'pull the trigger! pull the trigger!'")

it has a 6-hole trem bridge, rosewood board, skunk stripe, and new-style tuners. the neck is very comfortable, and (being a built-for-comfort-not-for-speed kinda guy) that's the first thing i look for in a guitar.

it's in pretty good shape. there are a few small dings and the pickguard has a small carpet ripple. No big bangs or gouges.

but: the one issue that bothers me is that the neck has a little bit of a candy cane twist to it, so the action isn't great. the truss rod hole is at the nut.

i'm wondering how fixable that is. or if the price is low enough that i can easily flip it or parts it out if i decide buying it was a mistake.

okay. wadya say?

Agreed, I'd stay away from that neck issue. Maybe see if they'd let you take it to a repair shop to see if it's fixable.
