NGD White Blonde CV50's (Poor Man's Mary Kay)

Got it late Saturday evening. Sounds great looks better. Got it from Sweetwater. The setup was pretty darn good out of the box. Low action and in tune. Has a little fret buzz that I expect to go away when I put .10's on it and readjust everything.

That is a beautiful guitar. Love the blonde and gold....I am thinking of buying a CV 50 OR CV 60. How are the tremolos on them? I like to use the tremolo.....That's a big part of why I like the Strat. Thanks...

This model scares the heck out of me.

This is one serious lot of guitar for the price FMIC asks for them.

Hope she's a keeper.

Agreed, it's a heck of a lot of guitar for the coin they're asking. And to be honest, I'm starting to suspect it's really an ash body. It's quite bright; brighter than any of the other CV50's that I've played.

I've linked a video below where a Squier rep is asked if it ash. He says, "Yeah, I think so," but even he doesn't sound convinced. Fenders specs on the website say alder, but then again, the website also says chrome hardware and I can assure you it's not chrome hardware. You can see the grain through the finish and it does have any ash-like appearance, although I've seen alder with ash-like grain as well. I wish I could have gotten better pictures to show the grain so an expert could chime in.

I've emailed FMIC for a definitive answer, but as anyone who's emailed them lately can attest, they're slow to answer emails right now.

P.S. She's definitely a keeper.

For anyone who may care, I finally got a response from Fender on the body wood. It is, in fact, alder. So there you go.

It's thicker than my CVC telecaster and slightly thinner than my MIM telecaster. It's a comfy size.

It was the last one in a batch of four when I bought it. They had one in earlier this week, but I see that it was gone by Friday. I don't really see many of these for sale anywhere but Sweetwater and Amazon (and they're going quick there, too). I'm glad I grabbed mine when I did.
