Classic 70's Strat

Don't see much love for these about, but noticed they do seem to keep their value on ebay and elsewhere.

Had recently seen one at a local store (now gone) and was wondering what people thought or if anyone around here has one?

I know the time was not considered particularly good for Fender and that may impact their popularity.

The classic 70s is a current MIM strat, from what I understand. I don't have any experience with that particular model, but the classic series (and especially classic player series) are excellent. The only reason they might be less popular, is that the big headstock is less popular than the small one at the moment (see the poll on headstock size).
I'm sure they're great guitars, if you like that styling!

I've owned a couple of the 70s Classic MIM Strats and I thought they were nice guitars, I liked the feel of the necks on the 70s RIs, the ones I owned played well and sounded .... like a Strat.

IMHO the fit and finish is better than on some of the original 70s Strats I had back in the day, some of those had real sloppy neck joints and the necks would shift around.
And the weight , I had a mid 70s Strat that weighed more than my Les Paul, it hurt to play that guitar for a long time.


As AJ mentions, maybe some folks are not into the big peghead and then there is the 3 bolt neck attachment , but on the RI's it seems real solid.

Thanks, guys. I have a MIJ Squier SQ that is my favourite strat. Has that chime. Made me wonder about these.

May have to checkout the Squier VM 70's too.
