1992 strat volume pot
Hi peoples, I am cleaning up a Strat for a friend and under the pick guard is an inspection sticker for the electrics with a sig' 'Kim' and date 1992. We believe it is a MIM and the problems are, or were dodgy selector switch which turned out to be dirty contacts and scratchy pots. I cleaned everything up and sprayed with contact cleaner and all seems ok except the volume pot which, when on 0 has no sound at all on 1 it starts to come in.Is this normal? My Tele's still have a tiny bit of volume at bottom but not sure about Strat's.They all seem to be 500meg pots also.
Thanks for any replies. |

What is normal? In theory all of the signal should be grounded at 0 and there shouldnīt be any sound at all so thatīs normal. The only thing that would bother me was if there was a big volume leap between 0 and 1.Then I would change the pot.(Maybe.)

Hi, thanks for the prompt reply. My thoughts exactly about the zero position, The volume swells nicely from 1 up to 10 in a linear fashion without glitches or scratching. I think I will give it back and ask him to give it a go. I can always replace the pot if need be,I would hate it to fail at a gig
