Life without you:

I'm not trolling, not putting down Telecasters I love them, but I gotta pose this question:

I know there are a zillion SRV wannabees I don't care about them, and I'm not talkin' about them. I'm just wondering, how can you hear, and see SRV perform "Life without you" and not like a Strat? Man, Stevie wasn't the fastest, he wasn't the best, but has anyone every put more of himself into playing and singing than he did?

I always say, ya gotta have both a Tele and Strat are yin and yang, salt and pepper, sweet and sour. I was cruisin' youtube this morning, I revisited "Life without you" and I had to give my Strat a hug. I gotta get me another strat and put some lipsticks in it one of these days, I just gotta.

Don't shoot me, I love a manage a trois, me, my Tele, and my Strat. Everybody needs some Quack and Twang!

Agree 100%. I love my '94 Am Std white/maple strat. Super, super guitar. A Tele seems to make the family complete!!

It's perfectly okay to love more than one kind of guitar! There are hundreds of songs I love that were played on guitars other than Telecasters, many of them on Strats.

NOPE! nope! nope, if you got a TELE you can't have a STRAT! not allowed! it's against the rules you know
that is why I dont have a white one with a Duncan SSL-5 in the bridge, because if I did it would sound fantastic and I would play it all the time,
(HEY! get away from there! nothing in that case, nothing at all, just leave it alone and go about your business)

I ride the strat boat for sure! Honestly I prefer strats ALOT more I just hang out here because I love the people here.

On the topic of feeling what makes music great is FEELING like JIMI, SRV, Eric johnson, Chet atkins, even like Randy Rhoads.

IMHO you don't have to apologize for liking strats, even here... Hendrix, Clapton, Gilmore, Knopfler... ? Need I go on?

Right this second my Tele plays better than my Strat. My Strat is my test mule to see if I'm any good at working on guitars. I carved a new nut for it, my first one, and it has a couple of boo-boos in it. I'm gonna carve a new one soon as the weather gets good enough to do most of the sanding/filing outside. Bone dust stinks!

I hope that once I get the nut right that this Strat will sound as good in its own way as my Tele does now.

Agreed! Absolutely love my strat . . . and my tele, and my lp, and my 175 . . . I am monogamous in marriage, but when it comes to my guitars its very, very difficult to be loyal to just one for any length of time.

Guess I'm lucky...years ago, during the course of a couple of years, I fell in love with 2 guitars, one an '82 Strat and the other an '83 Tele, not because I wanted a Strat or a Tele - each just gave me what I was looking for. Still have both and still play both at gigs every week.

I've had dozens of guitars come and go, got about 25 of 'em now. A mixture of acoustics, electrics, basses, etc. Love 'em all. Here's a few of my favorite electrics:

Just sayin'...

I'm in the same boat. My parts teles are very, very good. But my no1 Strat has a vibe that has eluded me in all my other guitars.

I'll join in with some SRV and Strat-love. I have a Nash S-57 that is just very, very special. To me, one of the most beautiful guitar sounds in the world is the neck position of a Strat.
