Highway 1 strat 350.00

I found a Highway 1 strat hss configuration for 350.00. Seems to be a good deal to me but I have never played one. Assuming I get it, I will be changing out the pickups with a set of Lace Sensor golds.

Any problems I should know about?

The only problem is it may sell before you get a chance pick it up. That is a really good price.

Those are GREAT guitars!!
GRAB IT QUICK!!!
You might want to re-think the Lace's. I had them....didn't like them at all!!
Keep the HSS format....and put some DiMarzio Area series pickups (58, 67, or 61) and a good humbucker by either Gibson (498T, 490T, 57 Classic Plus) or perhaps DiMarzio again (36th Anniv. P.A.F., Air Classic) and you will not be sorry!
Get rid of those crappy PING tuners...put in some Fender/Schaller locking tuners....(they drop right in...NO mods!) and you'll be rolling......
Just my $.02..................

BTW it already has locking tuners installed.

Damn!! That's a great deal!!! It beats the last deal I had
On a new Highway.....I paid $380.00!
Locking tuners installed??!?
You just saved $75.00!!
Niiiice!!!

Just be aware.... the pickguard was obviously changed to the pearlized
one and the factory Sunburst Highway HSS came with 3 BLACK pickups
NOT the mixed colors on that one. The previous owner made some mods..
Hopefully....he did a good job.
Good luck and enjoy!
Nice relicing btw!

Thanks, sounded like the guy just wanted to get it gone. Said his main player is a custom shop strat but this used to be his main guitar.

What I liked about it is the beater look. He said the finish just naturally wore away. Got a good axe I won't have to worry about getting it dinged up.

I will be reporting in here as soon as I pick it up (river dancing as I type). I would actually like to find some good classic old school pickups and pickguard for it. Any suggestions? Maybe the 57/62 (I believe) pickups? I can't stand noisy pickups but I guess I can shield for that.

That is a wholesale price for edxc original condition, ime. And....there are some locking Gotoh's on that headstock, right? That relic job looks unlike natural wear, ime, though. NOt that that matters....especially if you like it.

Here is my Highway 1..all original, exc cond. One of the best 'stock' STrats I have played.

57/62's would be a great choice! They're the best strat pickup fender makes, as far as I'm concerned. Great score!

Thanks for that, I'm gonna get a set and new pickguard and try them out. I was thinking they would be more vintage old school sounding. I may also get a stock highway 1 sss setup, I've seen them on ebay for around 100.00 ready to drop in. I didn't think I would care for the HB in the bridge but its voiced well and doesn't knock your head off when you switch to the bridge as some hss guitars I've played/owned in the past.

Picked it up this afternoon. Plays great and love the locking tuners. The guy said the relicing is all player wear as he's the original owner. I love the look and won't have to worry so much about babying it. For 300.00 I would have been happy with just the guitar but I got the original gig bag, paperwork, trem bar and a Fender strap.

I guess the neighbors like it too. Been jamming on it with my Princeton Reverb on my back porch and the cops ain't here yet.

Thanks for all the input guys. I always value everybodys input here.

Took it to my lesson to day and let my teacher play it. He asked what I paid and gave me the "deer in the headlights" look when told him. He has a pink paisely Japanese strat he came real close to wanting to trade for it.
