So, how are those Epiphone Strats?

Yeah. Someone's got an S310 up for sale here in San Diego on craigslist and I was just wondering how they stack up against other strats in terms of quality and such. It's a 92. I'd be interested in picking it up but the guy says that it's rare, and people think that just because they don't see something very often means it's worth a lot of money.

No help, but yeah, sometimes there's a reason it's rare.

Yeah, one of those on the Phoenix CL that pops up every two weeks or so. The guy wants about $400. Right.

Just looking this morning, and a guy is listing an Epiphone Standard Amp (big brother to the Valve Junior) and wants $400.

I just can't understand why they keep listing the same thing over and over for months on end at ridiculous prices.

Oh well!

This guy's not even listing a price, but it's just hard to talk someone down from some idea they have. Like there's a few guitars that I see posted up for $100+ every few days, I go check Amazon and I can grab them for $50 new. I don't think those people would think too kindly of a $30 off, ya know?

They play well with a decent setup. The necks are nice if you can deal with the headstock shape. I picked mine up for 75 dollars and I'd say if you can get it cheap go for it. Just remember, it still has a plywood body and cheap but decent hardware.

And like others have said, rare does not always equal valuable.

And for quality think squire standard.

75 bucks is about max ... it's comparable to a plywood Squier Affinity Strat which would sell used in the same ballpark ...

Thanks for the info, guys. I'm more in the market for something with a humbucker, myself, but I was just interested in the Epiphone for the fact that it's weird.

He has it listed twice....second ad says 300 bucks or offer/trade.

GC has one for 199 and Music go Round has one for even less.

I wouldn't offer more than 50 bucks. The guy is obviously trying to make a play on its rarity. Not.

Yeah, I was looking into another one on Wednesday, a JBP strat, because I won't say no to a good guitar for a good price even if it's not exactly what I want, and the guy had it up for $30, willing to go as low as $20 if you could pick it up that night. I called him and he said someone was coming over to look at it, but he'd text me if it was still available. Never got a text back, so I assumed it was sold.

What do I see on there today? That same JBP up for sale for $50! Willing to go as low as $40 if you could pick it up today.

Oh, finally I've found someone who knows them!!!
What model is this one? I bought it in the '80ies and still is playing. No numbers or code on the neck.

Looking yours over, it's either an S200, S300 or S310. I don't know much about tremolos, but someone else who does might be able to narrow it down more from those specs.
