ngd! surf strat

spent the weekend getting to know my new surf strat. the pu's are very responsive to small height adjustments. once i got things properly tweaked, she sounds great!

Totally love the color, I've been looking at these babies too. How do you find the lipstick pickups, gimicky or do they actually produce a nice sound? I have not seen many reviews of these at all (being new for 2012 and all). I'm torn in thinking between these either catching on and becoming a new classic, or just failing to sell at all.

i'm very pleased with the pu's. they have a more full-bodied sound than i anticipated, but they def. have the lipstick tone i was seeking.

you do have to spend some time tweaking the height, tho.

How did the sound change with the height? Can you give some more details?

i mean the aspect of "hot" that refers specifically to the volume(s) of the different strings-

adjusting the neck pu so it's closer to the low E & farther from the high E; bridge pu adjusted to the opposite extreme; middle pu fairly even.

the effect of slight adjustments (maybe a quarter turn of the screwdriver) was greater than i had anticipated.
