How much would this guitar sell for?
I have a guitar up for sale and a guy offered me cash plus this guitar. It's a 90's MIM strat relic'd with fender fat 50s, sperzels, cs pickguard, big block, 2 piece body, early 90s, hard fender case. My guitar is up for 800.00 (50's Gibson Tribute LP w/ p90's w/hsc) and he would give me this plus $400.00

Wow that's lower than I would have thought, though I don't know much about the upgrades. Is it because it's a niche guitar being relic'd and upgraded yet being a MIM?

Problem...
The problem (imho) is that it's an import strat -Mexican Standard. Why anyone would "Relic" a MIM Standard is beyone me. Upgrades are nice, but the relic thing was silly.

Yeah, that seems like a fair trade. That Strat is probably worth $300-$400. It's not far off from what you're asking. It all depends on how much you like the Strat. It seems fair to me, I'd do it but that's cause I like Fenders. I just don't get along with Gibsons. I have two Teles and a Strat aswell as a Martin acoustic. I'm a Fender guy, but the trade is all up to you.

Upgrades like pickups and tuners do not affect resale. Looked like a cool Strat, but he woulda needed to pony up to you.....you could get a cool strat straight up trade though if that's what you like.

Glad you didn't go for that deal!
Seriously, it's probably a decent player, but it ain't worth more than $350. No matter what's been done to it, it's still a used MIM Std at the end of the day. And just to put it out there, it ain't a two piece body. No such thing on those guitars. They veneered them so they looked like two piece bodies, but under those veneers, there's no telling how many pieces you'd find. The pickups and tuners are nice, but as others have said, really don't add value. With the current market, I'd think you might have a really good shot at getting an MIA Std. in trade for your guitar. You might even come out ahead. And you'd have much nicer strat than this guy was offering you.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Fender guy, but your LP is the one I would absolutely love to have. P-90s in a Les Paul...it doesn't get much better in guitars with 3-on-a-side headstocks.
Glad you didn't make the trade.
