instead, just get a Roadworn Strat, a can of lighter fluid, and a book of matches ... you still will have an ugly guitar, but you will have $6000 more in your wallet !!!

Is that a shark under Fender's relicing water skis?
Seriously, I'm a fan of relics too.... But 6500 for hitting it with a plumbing torch? Really?

Frank Zappa rebuilt and played a burned up Hendrix guitar, now owned by his son Dweezil ... my guess is that Fender wanted to produce a replica, but the Hendrix and/or Zappa families wouldn't agree to their terms and wouldn't allow their names to be used ... so Fender said forget you and made one anyway ... here is a pic of the real burnt guitar and a pic of the Fender

I agree that it looks like Fender are just seeing how far they can take the relic idea.
I remember seeing one of the Joe Strummer Teles in a shop which had so much rust on the bridge you couldn't move the saddles to intonate it. That was definitely a step too far. |

I saw that in a MF catalog and was thinking the same thing, Who the F#@* would spend that kind of coinage for an ugly, overdone P.O.S. like that. I wonder how many they've sold? I think that even collectors with more money than they know what to do with, would turn their noses up at this disgrace. Though the price does make those Les Paul Customs look cheap at $3800.
