So I pulled the trigger last night and bought the MIM 50th Anniversary Stratocaster I've been asking about these past few weeks.
The guitar is a special edition of the Classic '50s Reissue Stratocaster. It's Aztec Gold with a gold anodized pickguard and gold hardware. It comes with a special 50th Anniversary tweed gig bag.
I was blown away by the condition it's in. It's near mint with only three tiny (and I mean about 2mm each), barely visible impressions on the lower back side from a leather jacket zipper. Other than that it's flawless. You can tell it has not been played much (the seller told me that it has actually sat unplayed for about the last three years). The guy even had all the hang tags and his original bill of sale from a local music store. He bought it in early 2005 for $1049CDN plus tax. I got it for $625. And that included a little Roland Micro Cube amp. Not that I needed another amp but this one is AC or battery powered (it'll run up to 20 hours on 6 AAs) which is cool. Never know when you'll need a battery-powered amp. And the amp doesn't sound that bad for what it is.
Anyway, I'm thrilled with the purchase. Fantastic guitar! After playing it last night, the only thing it needs as far as I'm concerned is a pickup height adjustment and new strings. Other than that it's perfect.
I'll be taking and posting pictures hopefully this weekend.
So it's Happy New Guitar Day to me!
