Fiesta red. Updated

Hi all, just bought a new 2000, Fiesta red strat. I'm wandering how will change the color with time and day light action ?
Fading and turning pinky, or will it turn darker, toward Candy apple red.
Thank for your inputs and have a nice weekeend

Fiesta Red

It will become much lighter and more of a slamon pink with a slight orange tint to it. Certain lights make it look different from differing angles.

I wouldn't count on a brand new Fiesta red Strat changing color at all. You'd probably have to leave it out in the sunlight for a long time. The finishes and color formulas used today are much more durable than those used 40 years ago.

Hi all. Yesterday i take off the control plate, and i discovered, since the guitar has been exposed in the store for almost five years to the day ligth and the sun, the fiesta red is darkening a lot. The color under the pickguard is more pink orange.I like the color as it is. Looks really like the old fiesta red i saw in books.
Thank you fot your inputs.

Not Fiesta

That strat in the above pic sure as heckfire looks like Dakota Red to me. I don't think Fender even makes Fiesta Red stock on any American distributed guitars.

I know having seen it on a Strat a couple of years ago that the Hot Rod Red looks a kinda "tomato soupy" in its own right. I like the "opaqueness" or "creamyosity" to it. I also dig the Dakota but is a whole other flavor of color to me.

If I think of any other imaginary adjectives I'll let you all know.

That Strat pictured is Dakota Red. Fiesta is much lighter and has more pink in it. This is a common mistake.

Here is a Fiesta one for comparison.

It's a very dicey business trying to figure out a red color from a digital photo posted on the Internet. I'd say, if the color under the pickguard is lighter than the color in the photo, the color under the pickguard is the original color, and the rest of the color has darkened. It is (or, was) probably Fiesta Red, in that case.

Mark is right

It certainly looks identical to Dakota Red to me. Fiesta red would lighten in colour over the years not darken, so the colour under the pickguard should be darker if it was fiesta red.

Of all the guitars I've owned, the two absolute hardest to photograph are an opaque ocean turquoise PRS, and a Fiesta Red Lentz T-style. I have never been able to get a photograph of either of these two guitars to look even remotely like they really do. Actually, I owned a Fiesta Red Tele, several years ago, and I could never get that one to look proper in a photo, either.

But, kuma52 said the color under the pickguard is actually lighter than the color that has been exposed to the elements. If that's a fact, and if you consider the color under the pickguard more likely to be like closer to the original color (I do), then the color is not necessarily Dakota Red, and may very well be Fiesta Red.

Like I said, it's a very dicey business trying to judge colors on pictures taken with a digital camera, and then viewed through your monitor.

Hi all.
Mine is for sure a fiesta red. Before purchasing it i had doubt about the color. My friend at the store asked Fender to send a certificate. One day latter( hat off Fender)they sent a certificate saying the 2000 strat n° X Is a fiesta red model.

As somebody said the color changes a lot under different ligths. Under the sun the color is near orange pink. At home under the neon ligth it's much darker as you can see on the picture. This weekend i"ll post a picture under sun ligth.

Thanks for the inputs to everybody.

I'm dying to see these photos. I really love Fiesta Red, Hank Marvin first turned me on to Strats and that colour always reminds me of the excitement I got whenever I saw him playing it. Did you know that Mark Knopfler first used Strats because he loved the look of Hank's guitar ?

Scotland.

Hi man. Me too i'm now a big Shadows fan. I try to emulate that famous sound but with moderate succes. I must said i really love that strat now. The first day the sound almost killed me. THAT is a strat sound but the colour seemed a little too pink. Now i just crazy with that fiesta red.
Thanks for the info about Mark guitar. For me he sounds like a Hank's cousin. Pretty much the same family. Sweetness and swing.
On saturday i'll post anothers photos.

What I like about that guitar is the little trem cover. You don't see those anymore. I think all of the "Vintage" models should have them. That goes for the covers on P- and J-basses, as well.
