1965 'C' neck What is it?

Hi guys. I'm a tele player, but looking to buy a strat. Some custom shop strats come with a '65 'C' neck. What is this? Is it bigger, fatter, more slim than a standard 'C' Fender neck? The guys at the Strat forum are not helping me. I'm getting no response. Can I count on tele players for help? Blondie

Thats one you sorta have to answer for yourself.

Whats fat to some people is thin to others.

We all have different hand sizes and play and grip the neck a little different.

If you can get a measurment @ the nut and 12th fret from someone who has a 65 Strat CS ri that will sorta help to determine but you really have to feel one for yourself to decide.

Here is how Wildwood describes it:

http://wildwoodguitars.com/electrics/fender/10s/

They claim the '65 is .842" at the first fret and .970" at the 12th.

You can go to the Fender website and see diagrams, but, as Mark said, you really need to try as many of these as you can. In your area there must be 100's of these to try.

Thats good to know thats the exact same size as a CV50's Tele which most people call way too thin. But the profile and how the shoulders feel is what makes the difference.

I wonder what those who think the CV50's is too thin would think of my '02 Hwy 1's neck. It measures .813" at the 1st and .845" at the 12th. I imagine they wouldn't care for it, either.

I believe that the C that you are referring to is the basic shape of the contour . Thinking of a cross section , a C neck would resemble the letter C . A U neck would resemble the shape of a U . A V neck would resemble the shape of a V . Get it ? The 1965 would relate to the overall shape and thickness of a neck made in 1965 . Some things are that simple .

It's not as thin as some C necks. A little chunkier in feel, is how I would describe it! Very comfortable neck.
