Right now on New Fender Strats Fiesta Red isnt offered.
I had an 82 Fiesta red 62ri that was a nice one. Look on Ebay for pics. Digital cameras have a hard time reproducing Fiesta Red the correct color should look like tomatoe soup. |

I have an 87/57...
...and the tomato soup reference is dead on. Under the lights it turns pinkish. I bought the thing brand spanking new in 87. As the finish has come off in spots, the finish under Fiesta is Black, under that is Sonic Blue, then the wood. Like it was finished three times or something. I hardly play the thing as I'm a Tellypicker. I was going to trade it on a double bender Tele in Nashville at a shop 5 or 6 years ago and the people there insisted it was a refin. I told them I had it since new-had the papers etc. (not on me at the time, whodathunk) But the counter-clowns were insistent it couldn't have been made like that. They called the manager at home on his day off and everything. Oh the wonders of the magical Fender kingdom...This was back in the mid 80's when you walked into any guitar shop and the walls were lined with Strats and more Strats. Not a Tele in sight. Or maybe that was the secret formula for getting the correct color for Fiesta-Blue, Black, Red. Who knows?

the Fiesta on Amercan re-issues looks *wrong* to me, or at the very least un-appealing; too orange. I like my Fiesta with a bit more red in it. Not sure which is the "correct', but I have seen the more reddish version on some real pre-CBS Strats and some MIJ re-issues.

had a '59
that was stripped and lacquered over. I had it refinished in Fiesta red and it was stunning and sounded incredible. I sold it , a '54 stock Tele, and a '61 and '64 Strat for a down payment on my first house years ago when my wife told me we were expecting. It's a good thing I love that kid!

How come there are no orange strats?
I dont think I have ever seen an orange strat..just plain old orange...like the orange on a 69 Camaro or a GTO Judge...I think that would look kind of cool...especially on a strat...
