Where will you buy it from? Most stores I deal with would order it, but if you don't like it when it comes then no obligation. If you are buying online most of those sellers have easy return policies.
I bought my I've bought all my guitars "sight unseen", but with easy return policies. So I didn't perceive any risk. |

Do it. On the other hand, I built mine from Ebay parts and did it more cheaply than buying it outright. I probably got lucky with the right mix of parts. It all went together smoothly and plays perfect.
I say go for it. The others are right, especially if you've played one before and know what to expect. Easy return policies are also a pretty good incentive.

Michael may be making a point that, if you pay full e-bay retail for your Cray, you might be on the road to a better guitar by getting a neck and body from a boutique for that price.
The affirmative crew at the start may be subliminally saying the Cray has a huge neck, and can't be damaged. Just fuel for the fire here, I suppose. |

I got one sight unseen and my dealer even warned me this particular one had a huge neck. Played it a couple months really nice Strat sold it cause the neck was just too big.

I'm to blunt to infer anything subliminally. The Cray neck is to big. That is why mine feels so nice to me. I was able to be flexible and ended up getting a deluxe players neck which feels like a thin c shape to me. It fit perfect in the neck pocket on the Cray body. The plus is that the truss rod adjust is up at the top.

I have small hands, but the stock Cray neck is a pleasure to wrap my hands around. I just prefer the thinner style because I come from playing Ibanez guitars with their fast skinny necks.

I did exactly what you are contemplating. I recently bought a used '07 sunburst Cray from Custom Fretted Instruments in Sparta, TN. I had briefly seen the guitar hanging up when I was at the shop but didn't play it or look it over at the time.
I later checked out the pics online, got a detailed description of the instrument and made an offer, picking it up a few weeks later. Yeah, it's got a supposedly big neck but I play primarily acoustic, so it feels great. I also have a Robin Tele with a "huge" (as advertised) neck, but it feels just as comfy as the Cray. Good luck in your search, Roy Curry |
