HELP

I am buying a japanese stratocaster, because of the versatility.
So tell me, will this be versatile enough to play from john mayer to metallica?
Also please tell me if it is original, since i dont find it in fender japan, but everythings else seems in order. Here is the guitar:

First of all welcome to TDPRI.
And yes that guitar should cover it just fine. Taking into consideration you have an amp that will cover all that ground.

I must say...there have been some interesting offerings under the Fender name from Japan.

It says in the advert its not all original pickups.
If you in Mexico expect to pay up to $200 USD for shipping from Japan.

You can get one of these for the same price or cheaper new:

Well it also says free shippings to Mexico...
But my question is if this could cover my needs, or better to get a SSS?

It is missing the back panel and the trem arm. Has two possibly unknown pickups and one original. It has a few scratches, 85% fret wear (probably needs a crown job) and has to come via international shipping.

Buy it if you like it. I just don't think its such a good deal. For $599 USD or cheaper you can have brand new.

As for HSS/SSS the difference is a humbucking pickup. Cancels some of the noise in the bridge position. You should be able to use the selector switch to use it as a single coil.

You can achieve the same thing on an SSS by adding a noiseless or humbucking sounding pickup or shielding to cut down noise.

A lot of SSS bodies are routed for humbuckers anyway. I would have thought that the main attraction of this guitar is the Floyd Rose tremelo which is what makes it unique from most of the Stratocaster range.

I think that guitar looks excellent, surely you can get some cheaper but i estimate this one would be of better quality.
