Two Strats better than One?
So I have a sunburst 50's Classic Player Strat definately well played but still in great condition, swapped out to Jeff Beck Hot Noiseless pickups, factory gigbag. Since I got my JV Strat, it hasn't been played all that much.
Anyways, my friend has offered me the following two Strats as an even trade for the Classic Player Strat. Strat #1 - mint Squier Strat Classic Vibe 50's, white with gold pickguard, pots/switch upgraded to CTS/CRL, vintage style cloth wiring, stock pickups, Road Runner plastic hardshell case Strat #2 - mint Squier Strat Classic Vibe 60's, three tone sunburst, pots/switch upgraded to CTS/CRL, vintage style cloth wiring, Bill Lawrence Keystone pickups, battered tweed hardshell case (original pups in case) He's also offered to throw in 20 packs (bulk box) of EXL-110 strings and an old Frontman 25R that's real beat up but still works and sounds decent when clean. The CV60 sounds really good with the Keystones. Plays really well too, although the finish on the neck is a bit on the plasticky side. Any thoughts on this trade? Good or bad? |

Noooooooooo....why trade a Fender for a Squire? I am not bad-mouthing Squires, as I agree the CV's play and sound nice, but.......if you dislike your Fender then go ahead. Have any Gibson LP's? I bet I could round up a couple of Epi's to trade you......see? Just a silly idea.....not that I have ever had any....

From a players perspective, I'd much rather have one guitar that I've bonded with than have two, three, or thirty guitars that I haven't.
From a collectors perspective, I wouldn't accept the deal as the Squires are not as desirable as the Fender. Ask yourself if you'd be happy with that deal six months from now... I'd bet you would regret it when the newness wears off. Just my $0.02 Good luck! ~Randy P.S. The Classic Vibe guitars are very nice guitars; if the two of them speak to you, then its a great deal- if only one speaks to you, you're in the same boat as you were before the trade... with one extra guitar that you'll likely not play. Again though; good luck! Last edited by Guinness; November 13th, 2009 at 12:58 PM. Reason: to include the P.S. |
