The JV (Japanese Vintage) series Squiers only to the very first Japanese issues .I think 82-83 .They had a JV**** neck plate serial number .They fetch very decent money now .I had one in 82 .A Strat ,it came with US pickups .It was a great guitar .It was when Fender USA stopped production for a year or so .Of course other later Japanese Squiers are still very good guitars .
I find my SX Strat with Keystones a fine instrument .I am getting a dual humbucker pickguard to load up with Toneriders and swap over, just to see what its like . .It only takes a few minutes .Great fun .

A soldering iron and a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing!

After testing, here's my top pups:

1. Alnico 3 Kent Armstrongs [lovely and warm, staggered poles offer much better balance.
2. Lace Sensor [the tone is very stridant & clean but just lacks 'something'...close but no cigar]
3. MIJ ceramics [tone is great, but they seem to have trouble 'holding it together' at full-tilt tube saturation.......touch noisy.......having said that though, in my experience they're pretty darn good for factory stock.

I have a set of alnico's from a US strat deluxe coming, they will no doubt find a home & place in the pecking order.

Yeah, I have a TBX in most of my strats (along with a blender pot) and in one of my teles....

I did this one a bit different. I wired the TBX as per Doc's Mod, something I got from The Blue Guitar site. It seems to give more control over the tone change.

here's the diagram linky

Thanks for the heads-up on that one! Interesting, I'll have to give it a try.
