Back to P-90s!

After three years... there is a P-90 in my Barncaster again!

I changed it from a standard P-90 to a P-90 sized Dimarzio humbucker. A DP154 (A true humbucker in a P-90 size... not a stacked P-90)

It was a little too much. Just too much gain. Forget about playing the bridge pickup on a clean setting

Then I went to a full size humbucker a Duncan Distortion. (obviously a bad choice after my complaints about the Dimarzio) But I had never had a regular humbucker in this guitar before, and wanted to try)

AND NOW! I have come full circle to the P-90  I love it all over again. It balances really well with my standard single coils. :thu:

Who else plays with P-90s in their strat?

I have Seymour's Phat Cats in my Les Paul fake. It sounds better then my Gibson Les Paul Classic and my MIJ 62 Tele.

I've been drooling for this P-90 loaded guitar for a while. I'm about to just get it and tell my wife that I picked it up a yard sale for a few bucks... think she'll buy that story?

"Honey, there's $899 dollars missing from our account!"

P90s rule!

It makes me wonder why people are so obsessed with PAF Humbuckers when at the same time Gibson were pushing out probably the best pickup ever made. Wasn't Seth Lover told, "Go make me a P90 that doesn't hum!" by his bosses at Gibson when the PAF was being designed. To be honest I'll take the hum and keep the tone with it.

I may just be getting over emotion after a couple of hours playing with my new toy packed with vintage a P90.
