MSZ9 Serial Number?

Anyone else have an MSZ9 serial number Fender guitar?

Not asking for MN9 or MZ9.

Much obliged

Something new every day.

Wow, is Ensenada nailing them down!

That's the way it started, but then it seemed like they made too many serial numbers and decided to sell fewer Signature models, so they kept right on using MSN6 at least as late as 2002. My Jimmie with the 60th Anniversary button and 2006 stamped pickguard said: MSN7

Yeah.

I buggered the topic heading. I was supposed to write MSZ9 but I wrote MSN9 instead. Maybe the mods can fix it.

Seems like around the end of 2008, they decided to "rationalize" the numbers again and started doing it the "right" way. Caught me totally by surprise.

I shouldn't be surprised, knowing what I know now. The KWS has only been available for a short time. I wonder if every single KWS so far is a MSZ9?

:^)

My JV Strat is a MSN6, which I assumed to be a '96 but someone told me it was an '03 according to the rest of the number.

The S stands for signature model the year means nothing on these as my Cray Strat said MSN6 and was a 2003 and my Jimmie Vaughan said MSN6 and was a 2001

My Jimmie Vaughan is MSN6 also, it's a 2001 if I recall.
If yours is a newer one they've gone away from the tinted neck look cause that looks stark white compared to mine.

My '09 red ones are paler, certainly, than my MSN6 and MSN7 ones.

Not as dark as a Baja, for instance.

But they're quite a bit darker than some '07 and '08 Highway Ones I have. Those are quite pale. I'm suddenly wonderin' if someday there might be an immense premium on cased guitars, very old ones, with truly white maple necks. :^) Maybe not.

Hah, you never know!

I've seen a few 70's strats with unusually white necks, due to the poly finish and being in a case
