Value of a 1989 USA strat?
Guys, (and gals to I guess...); found at a pawn shop a 1989 standard strat (USA) with the original Fender red labeled HS case.....in a darker metallic red; al original; has some cosmetic dings and some buckle rash on the back; plays awesome! Excellent frets and rosewood board......
What is this worth? I think I can get it for $450......... |

They seem to go for between 550 and 800 or so on Ebay. I'd say if it were in good to excellent condition, that would be a great price.
Here's the links to Ebay and Craigslist, where you can search for similiar guitars and see what they sell for. http://craigslist.com

This isn't an original assessment, but is one I totally agree with: the early American Standard Strats are great guitars. Unless it's seriously damaged or been modded, $450 sounds like a great deal.

I checked the serial number again and it is a 1990......has the staggered alnico pickups (plastic bobbins) and CTS pots.....and the 2 point tremolo....in a kind of darker metallic red with rosewood fretboard.....tilt adjustment thru the neck plate.......original Fender HS case.......plays GREAT......frets are fine....the pickups sound VG; like alnico's; NOT overly chimey---but good......just a couple small dinks on the front (hard to find) as well as a very big area on the back from buckle rash.......
I actually think I can get it for closer to $400....... |

I say jump on it. A lot of people prefer those earlier strats...what's the phone number of that shop? I think I'll see if they can ship it to me.
