Vintage '79 Van Nuys Schecter body wood ID????

Just picked this guitar up for $370 Canadian. HAs a replacement Warmoth neck and looks like the pickups are a mixed bag but the hardwear is all original and there except the tone knob. Any idea what type wood this is? I'm thinking Walnut...

It's quite heavy. At first I was thinking "It's not THAT heavy" but have been wearing it for a bit and it's Les Paul heavy for sure. Sounds great even though it needs some work done to it. The pickups that are in it now are made for a Gibson string spacing so the outside E strings don't get picked up well (one's an old '83 Bill Lawrence L500 with the chrome housing so hopefully I can get some $$ for that, not sure what they're worth). I have some Harmonic Design Z-90's I won of ebay last week that I'm waiting to arrive so I can pop in them. I hope I don't have the same issue with string spacing. I thought of it after I won the auction...
