aerodyne strat

Has anyone out there owned, or played, an aerodyne strat? Have seen some on craigslist and read good things. Just never had a chance to play one. I hear the neck feels great. Have been looking at the amber color, ...the binding really makes it stand out. Great looking guitar. Feel, then sound, is most important to me tho...

thanks!

I have one and love it. Again, the Japan factory produces another classic. I actually like them, once again, over the American Strats. You won't regret it. I have had hundreds of Strats and the Aerodyne is easily one of the very best. Plus, you get the extra fret if it matters to you. The neck is amazing and as you said, the binding on a Strat is pure class. I am going to pick up the entire collection of Aerodyne Strats in every finish, with and without the pickguards (for the black ones). I currently have the black finish with the pickguard. So, for me.....it's a huge YES! Best of luck, I hope you get a good deal on it. The amber is beautiful!

thanks...

I have a japanese pink paisley strat (1991) and that's a great guitar(21 frets). wish i took better care of it, can't believe its been almost 20yrs now. extreme fret and neck wear, been dropped one too many times. definitely roadworn the old-fashioned way.

and yea, that 22nd fret does matter somewhat.

so it sounds like u would compare the aerodyne favorably to an american deluxe....considering the price or just straight up?

realize each his own. i have to try one and see what I THINK... just like the discussion and opinions

good luck on your quest..... and thanks again!

I have 3 of those paisley Strats, one that is like yours. I wore that thing out. Have a look at my guitars. You can zoom in on them all by clicking them. The Aerodyne is in there too. Sounds like you would enjoy checking them out. Have fun.....

I've always wanted a black aerodyne - I missed an opportunity to buy one very reasonably priced about six months or a year ago. Kicking myself now, but I was up to my neck in other projects. The black ones are not made any more, but they show up used now and then. They're my fave, by far. I played one for about a half hour in a small, well stocked music store once and was very impressed. Great tone, and quality throughout.

like the black on black. and the paisley one looks very much like mine in the neck. mine has a some real bad dings and dents on the body. i was too cool to take care of it as a youngster...idiot.

I've had/have a USA Standard, MIM Standard, MIM Classic 50s, Squier, and the early black Aerodyne (no pg). It's probably my favorite, everything is perfect, but if I could change to things, I'd want a fatter neck, and a sparkle green finish with plastics to match the cream binding.

The Aerodyne just feels nice, but I keep discovering that I'm not a Strat guy, and let them go. Who knows, maybe one day, this will be yours.

I bought a Crimson Transparent Aerodyne Strat about 4 months ago.
Beautiful guitar,easy to play,impeccably finished.
I did not like the ceramic pickups;especially in the bridge position.
I installed Seymour Duncan alnicoV SSL 1s and am very happy.
I just do not understand cheap ceramics in a quality guitar.Neither do I understand that it did not come with a hardcase.

Here's a link to what I did to an Areodyne. I always liked the body, but I really like maple necks. All of the hardware and pick-ups came from a Clapton strat.

Sort of my version of "Blackie"

Have looked at the strat and it looks to be equally good.

I love the stock pups in mine. I'm not a loud player, just at home by myself.

Hardcase? the black one's like mine didn't even come with a bag.

most guitars I have bought in Japan that cost much more than the Fender Japans, didn`t come with hard cases, they are rare with new guitars here.

Hi,

I got my Aerodyne Transparent Crimson a couple of days ago and it is beautifully balanced and contoured for ease of playing.

The neck is slim and fast which suits my small hands and the fretwork is impeccable. It is a curious mixture of vintage vibe (tuners/bridge) and modern cool with a subtle arch carve front and back which is more PRS than Fender.

The pups sound just fine for me but you may find the 7.25 radius a bit odd if you are used to a flatter board..I noticed the difference.

Overall however, I am delighted with it and only paid £350 for this 'as new' beauty!
