Does anyone have any information on this guitar?

It was a limited run for Mars Music in 2000. It's a Fender Roadhouse Strat (American made I believe) in a teal sparkle.

What's the story behind these, and what are they worth?

Never seen one but I'm sure if it was 2000 it was indeed made in USA at that time. Pretty sharp, I've seen regular roadhouse and lonestars go for around a grand or a little less still today and I'm sure this one is worth more.

Yeah, I bought one in 2001 from Mars music here in Vegas. Retail was $1500, "sale" price was $1100.... Put $100 down and had it paid off in 4 months... The story was Fender made 100 teal sparkles and 100 red sparkles for Mars... each store was to get 1 of each... the reds were gorgeous... ya gotta love the painted headstock with silver Fender decal... Right before the store closed (the went bankrupt in 2002) I went in and they had a SECOND TEAL ONE clearance priced for $700 !!! DAMN !!! being a broke musician I couldn't swing it... would have loved to put a fresh mint cond one away for retirement... The Texas special pups were too noisy to play in my casino, so I switched to Joe Bardens..... check out my youtube video of my teal baby "live" on UNLV-TV... the metalflake just SHIMMERS undet the studio lights...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHwS-del9cM

Can't say what current retail is, but if I saw one for a grand or less, I'd ask if they took layaway... ;-)
