Is this a Fender Esquire Custom Scorpion?

Hey guys. I recently stumbled across a pic of a cool-looking Fender.

Check it out-

Is that a Fender Esquire Custom Scorpion?

If so- I'm really intested in trying to find one, as I think Fender no longer makes them.

Did the Esquire Custom Scorpion ever come in other colors besides black? Did it ever come with a maple fretboard?

I appreciate any info, guys. Thanks all!

Yes, That is a Scoprion Esquire. They were only made for one year, only in black with the rosewood fingerboard. The Esquire GTs were built on the same platform, and came in red or blue, both with the white racing stripe.

there was also a Celtic Esquire ... both models were MIK, set-neck w/ 1 Humbucker and a single volume control. i bought one when they blew them out online a few years back... here is a nice pic of one (not mine)

ah i thought MIK directly as i saw them, something certain that reminds of the FMT's, presumably consistent quality all-round and a good guitar overall.

I know where one in mint condition is. I got it off craislist to use as trade bait and almost kept it. All hog set neck. It's a shredder guitar for sure and sustains like crazy. One of the lightest guitars I've ever held. The logo on the head is raised and has a chrome look. Very cool. The volume control is recessed, so if one wants to put a stacked pot in it, I'm not sure how it would work out, but then again, I've never did that mod to a guitar. The stock Fender Atomic pup is pretty hot, but cleans up ok if you roll it back.

I really liked it. Some reviews claimed the neck was a bit springy, but I put 11's on it and set it up and didn't notice it being all that springy. It has narrow string spacing and if you have small hands you'll love it. The hard tail bridge is nice and the volume knob is about the right place if you want to do swells with it.

Specs and reviews here...

The sold for around 550-600 bucks, and then MF and others blew them out at around 275 I think.

Anyhow, there is one in Louisville at the shop I traded it in. They have it listed at 400, but they'll work with you. They list it as an ebony board, but it's rosewood

Here is a shot of it I took the day I bought it off cl

Unless they took it off, it still has the protective film on the control cavity plate and the tuners.

Exactly. It is a one pickup FMT with no tone control and no fancy maple. Super light and easy to play.
