80's reisues stratocasters

Hi all, I've seen lots of 80's reeditions of 56 and 57 stratocasters, they costs the same us the actual reisues and they aren't aged (I don't like aged).

I like to know the diferences between those reissues and the actually reissues, pickups hardware cuality of woods construction and some small details, do you think they sound better than nowdays reissues????

thanks

Am not sure I understand what you mean? Are you asking if the 80's reissue Strats are as good as the original 50's ones? Or are you asking about comparisons between 80's reissues and new ones??

Are you asking for a comparison between the reissues built in the 80s and the ones built today?

There is a bit of a language barrier.

They are all nice guitars. They key is to play as many as you can and pick the one that feels and sounds best to you. The early 80's reissues have become collectible and increased in value simply because they were the first that Fender made. That doesn't make them better guitars though IMHO.

If my memory isn't out of whack, the early '80s reissues were made in Japan. I have an '84 Squier Tele built in the same plant and it's my number one.

I've made a couple of changes, but it gives you some idea. I had a MIJ Fender Tele from a bit later and it was very close to this one in shape and finish (including the rounding of the back of the headstock), just had a thinner neck, which I didn't like as much.

I don't know much about the USA reissues from that period, though. I did have an '83 USA Tele, not a reissue, and it was well built. I didn't care for the Elite saddles as I couldn't get them to quit rattling. Otherwise it was a really good guitar. It had a really chunky neck, which I like. Unfortunately, the need for funds caused me to sell it...

Hope that helps somewhat.

I believe he's talking about the '82 and onwards Fullerton reissues. US made.

The early 80's ('57 & '62) vintage reissues seem to be highly regarded. have a look here for more info:

I have a 57 reissue Strat made in 1987. It is a great guitar that I love to play. I think it is every bit as good as a modern reissue, and sometimes they show some natural wear if you're into that sort of thing. I wouldn't say that simply being older makes them worth much if any more money.
