Wow! Thanks for posting that. I sure loves me some hardtail Strat!

I've never seen an oxidized pickguard that old. I have seen more with neck dates in pencil that not. The logo is certainly correct for a hardtail. They'd cut off the "synchronized tremolo" for those.

Someone really loved that guitar!

I don't believe that there is no date on the neck. Call me a skeptic cynical guitar player.

There were actually quite a few that didn't have the date on them in 59.....strange but true.

9 hole pickguard? Was that really normal at some point? I've never heard of that.

This same guitar is being used by scammers on Ebay right now. I had one of the ads pulled today. It is some freak that is asking for a $2,200.00 buy it now, but no BIN link. He demands that you simply email him directly via the name that is on his picture, not in the description. He hacks accounts and tries to sell it for 24 hours and then moves on. He simply does the copy and paste of that same ad and tries to swindle people. It's very obvious what's going on when you come across the ad.....but.....times are hard. LOL

Yeah in late 58 to mid 59 they stopped writing on the neck butt because a Customer complained to Fender that they found an Obscenity written in there.
