Help With '07 HWY 1

My HWY 1 strat with stock pickups seams to really be light (low volume) when I play the high E string. Espcially single notes. I really have to pop it with a finger to get anyting decent out of it.

I am running through a Holland Gibb Droll Bassman Clone which works pretty well.

The bass is prety heavy on the low E string.

The E strings appear close to even on the neck.

Any suggestions?

Have you tried adjusting pickup heights?

Agreed try adjusting the Pickup height and the string height as well.

I would also recommend that if you done that and still sound off try adjusting the truss rod as well if the fretboard isn't level.

Hey, Dan!

Dan, do you have a picture you can post.

The string array on Highway Ones is the narrow type. I'm wondering if, with some pickguard misalignment, if the pole pieces are too far right to be picking up the E string.

Also check:

E nut slot;

Condition of the E string, maybe replace it; and

Swap out the High and Low E saddles (just the saddle and height screws, switch them one for the other) see if there's a defect in the saddle break point.

Thanks for all of your replies.

I was out of town for the weekend.

I will try to post some pictures tonight. I have never tried that before.

My other strat has lace sensors so I can't compare locations or heights.

I visited some shops in Milwaukee last weekend my thoughts are the strats on display have more string over the pickup post.

I would be suprised if the pick guard was off but it is entirely possible.

Pics For HWY 1 Strat Help

I managed to get the pics posted. I hope you all can see them.

Any help with my "quiet" high E string would be appreciated greatly.

I does look like the E string is off the pole too much.

Help With HWY 1 Strat Continued

I wind so the string is tangent to the bottom of the tuner.

The guitar stays in tune pretty well with the stock tuners.

Thanks for looking.

OK how about shots from fretboard like this (I'm using my Les Paul for this

and the from the Bridge pickup to Bridge itself.

What I trying to do is determine if fretboard is level or not.

Wow:

I started looking down the neck and noticed teh saddle was too low.

Problem solved. I feel a little dumb not noticing it before.

Thanks.

Well glad you notice now you need to set it correctly and it should start to sound better.
