Best strat for under £400?
I am seriously thinking about selling my US lone star and buying another strat.
I am after a chunky neck, thats for sure. (Has to be thicker than a modern C) if not 50's spec even. The neck on my Lone star is just too thin and I just dont feel comfortable with it. I would also like the standard 3 single coils arrangement as opposed to a bucker in the bridge. *thanks in advance* |

I hear some good reviews on the Squier Classic Vibe '50s Stratocaster. Available for about 255 gbp...

they have a medium c neck and the neck is not easily swapped- the pocket depth is different than standard strat sizes.
I really liked the neck on the one I tried, felt very similar to my fender mij. |

That's why they invented steel wool. But this always puzzles me. Who exactly sees the back of the neck? I only see a the top of the back of the neck (try saying that 3 times, fast) when I play.

I've got the CV 60s Strat and it's amazing for the price. The stock pickups are excellent and the inside is completely shielded with the tidiest wiring job I've ever seen in a guitar. Seriously.
The neck has a similar feel to an old neck, and even if it isn't exactly 'thick' it doesn't feel thin either. I prefer chunky necks and I like it. One of the best strats I've come across at any price. Check it out. |

I had to decide between one of these and a MIM and the thick poly neck-gloss was nowhere near as nice as the satin finish on the MIM. What I do like is that the string spacing is vintage, as opposed to the MIM, which has that narrow spacing which causes string/polepiece misalignment and looks silly. Great guitar though, I suppose you could always sand the neck...and it's a way cheaper than a MIM. Try 'em both and go with your heart!
