What year did the MIM classic's start?
The reason I ask is that I recently picked up a used MIM metallic red strat with a rosewood fingerboard. The serial # is MN668906. The tag on it listed it as a Standard Strat. I picked it up for $199.00. The guitar just needed a setup which I do myself. The guitar sounds amazing...the neck is awesome...better than my MIA strat. Barely a mark on the guitar. It's a keeper. The reason I ask the question in the title of the thread however is because after examining this guitar, I noticed the serial# and "Made in Mexico" is on the rear of the headstock...I always thought the standards were on the front. The Fender Logo is the gold spaghetti logo and only the word Stratocaster is next to it. THe headstock has the darker vintage look....so my thought is could this guitar not be a standard strat and could it be a classic '60's model?
