Kenny Wayne Shepherd Strat

I just received my KWS Strat and in the absence of info for anybody wondering the following will hopefully fill in the blanks. My version is the 3 tone sunburst:

Made in Mexico
3 Piece Body (8 pounds 2 ounces)
Fender/Schaller Strap Buttons
American Vintage Tremolo w/steel block
Graph Tech Ferraglides (Stainless Finish)
Tremolo decked from factory with 5 springs and claw tightened
Fiber Bobbin pickups with all cloth wire (Pronounced Mid Scoop sound)
Neck tone controls middle and neck pickups
Middle tone controls bridge pickup
CTS Pots
'62 Aluminum Pickguard Shield (stamped Nov 2008)
The back of the neck is finished like the Jimmie Vaughan
Not sure if the tuners are Ping or Gotoh, but they seem to be positive
Neck Dimensions:
Width at 1st Fret: 1.650
Width at 12th Fret: 1.980
Depth at 1st Fret: .860
Depth at 12th Fret: 1.012
It does feel like a "full" C shape to my hand, tho' I also have 2 Cray's (2006, 2007) an '01 60's Classic, and an '05 70's Classic, so I am partial to big necks, but they could be clouding my hand - it does feel good though. I also have a Jimmie Vaughan, but that's a V and it is fine for size too.
Hope That Helps, as I rolled the dice on this one - I usually don't and rely on the forums for feedback on new models before I buy, but I am keeping this one.

Beyond nice, it's beautiful. I have a weak spot for Sunburst anything.

Thanks. Sunburst is one of my favorites too. On this particular one, the red to yellow flow into each other and I will have to get better at photography to show it.

Nice!

Good mini-review, I have been hot for the white version lately!

Today might be your lucky day. I see that MF has them for today's Fender Friday Special.

Fender Friday deal for today is the KWS in black only for $499.99. I almost went black on 8/7 but this thread got me thinking sunburst instead. It's a nice guitar. You might have to pick more than one though. The first KWS that came in had an issue with the neck pickup. The replacement was about a pound lighter, nicer body grain, and had all the pickups working like they should. I wouldn't shy away from these guitars, especially today if you're thinking about the racing stripes in black . Just a heads up.

Beautiful.

Yeah, those tuners are the "Ping" version. Notice how the butt end of the tuning shaft protrudes out past the body a little bit, and the buttons are a little more angular, less rounded in shape.

1.012 inches at the 12th. Wow, that does sound like a nice deal.

But your sunburst looks so good and the black $ 499 one looks so..............black.

Sounds to me, at $ 499 like a better deal all around than the Road Worns.

The neck is a lot chunkier than the R/W's too. This is becoming my new go to workhorse. I still like my JV though. The pickups are more agressive too (think SRV).

Anthony goes over things very well:

Very useful clip, Tom!

Well, I can only hope the boys who coulda used one of these actually ordered one.

I hate to hear that somebody's fretwork was not just so. I don't mind tending to undercooked fret ends, but I would not like frets that were not seated that well.

I wonder if they banged a bunch of these out in too big a hurry, like they did that batch of Baja Teles? Black ones, in particular?
