Guitar you regret selling

What guitar have you sold/traded that you regret getting rid of? Mine is an early 70's hardtail strat that I paid $300 for and traded it in for a new Bullet strat with a tremelo bar and only 2 knobs volume &1 tone. That all happened about 1982 when I was 16, smarter than my parents and I knew everything.

Hmm, I have a few, in no particular order:

- early 70's Gretsch Viking (I think) es335 style guitar. Sold it to pay the rent. Nice guitar.

- mid-60s SG Jr. Neck like a baseball bat

- 77 Gibson RD Standard bass.

- early 70's Gibson J50 Dlx. great sounding acoustic.

Hmm no Fenders, only because I never sold any of my Fenders.

That's it for guitars. The amp list is much longer.

My first Tele - also my first 'proper' guitar.

Started playing when I was 16, had the most godawful electric on the planet, branded Satellite. Sold my beloved Yamaha moped (my only transport) and bought a Blonde, Rosewood board Tele , it was probably an early to mid 70's. 2 years on I traded it in for a '79 Les Paul Custom (which I still have).
I really wish I'd hung on to the Tele though and not wasted £££££££££££'s chopping and changing from one guitar to another.

'74 Deluxe that I paid $150 for in '78. Sold it in '84 and bought a 2 knob Strat.

Doh!

Brace yourself:

1954 Strat
1953 Gold Top Les Paul (trapeze)
1932 L-5
1960s Gibson 12-string (B-12?)

This was for my tuition for a PhD, which landed me a tenured job, which in this economy I am incredibly grateful for.

Ouch, this topic brings back many unpleasant memories!

65 Strat (I was broke/down in LA; needed cash and called my folks to wire me some money and they said "we can sell your guitars"?

71 Gibson Heritage and 64 Precision Bass (broke again)
On the bright side I just recently became a Tele owner for the 1st time. I traded an Ibanez RG that would never stay in tune, for a mint 2002 Tele that is the joy of my life right now.

Ugghhh...I still cringe about this. When I graduated from high school, my Uncle gave me an acoustic guitar, a brand I'd never heard of, with an odd sound hole configuration. A year later, I sold it for $250 to go visit my college girlfriend over the summer. She later ripped my heart out. Oh, the guitar? 1989 McPherson Studio. Yeahh.......

In 1970 I bought a Mosrite metallic red 12 string. What a super guitar! The neck was the thinnest I had even seen and especially skinny for a 12 string. Played it for about 2 years in a garage band. After the band broke up and I found myself playing less and less, I traded it for an acoustic (don't remember the brand) which my EX pawned several months later. Don't miss the EX one bit but I still cringe when I think that I let that beauty get away.... sigh.

'68 Guild starfire, traded for a $400 dollar dobro. found out later the guy who traded me turned it around for$900! grrrrrr.

Gibson L-6s sold for $600

i had a 50's lower echelon archtop that played ok but could have been better with a bit of work. i paid $250 for it. sold it for $250! i had a lap steel guitar that matched it(cept it was a fender). sold that too.

All of them! Even the ones that I didn't like at the time (and still wouldn't like now!)!

1990 AVRI 62RI surf green strat. Swapped the pg for a mother of pearl version.
Where are you??!!
Also, a 72 Les Paul Deluxe gold top. I'm just not a Gibson guy really. Still would like it back though.

My 1997 Fender Hendrix strat. I don't know what possessed me to do it, but I never played it and babied it like a museum piece. God, I wish I had it back. *cries*

No guitars just one sweet amp.....

Once I sold an early Earth Revival amp that was totally sweet. I should have never sold that thing.

The one I regret more than all others was an early Japanese three tone sunburst rosewood board. One of the easiest playing guitars I've ever owned. I wore the frets completely down to the fretboard ina couple of places. I didn't have the money for a refret and thought what I wanted was the Gibson sound...

I traded it for a nice early 70's Gibson L5S... which I played about 10% as much as I had played that strat. Then it sat in it's case for ten years before I threw it on eBay. I really wish I still had that darn strat... Breaks my heart every time I think about it.

I gotta go now and cry in the corner now....

gibson es-135 with ampeg b-12n

What was I thinking ... that equipment was way to good for me at the time, ... I was more into heavy RnR then.

Set the wayback machine for 1984 Mr. Peabody.

Never find that b-12n again ... it was perfect!

Cheers.

I've said it before, here and to many others, a '67 Mustang. Never fussed with the re-issues, but I've thought more than a time or two about getting hold of an original. BTW, I bought it with a Bronco amp that I wish I hadn't parted with either.

A 1970 Gibson Les Paul Custom. It was 1991 and for some reason I had decided I didn't really want to play electric guitar anymore. I sold it for $750.

I'd give anything to have her back. Best axe I've ever owned.
