Replaced hardware in Squier Strat

Hello,

I have this Squier Stratocaster (made in China) which I partly liked; Guitar body and neck are fine, but the tuners and hardware were awful. So I changed the tuners to standard Fender strat tuners (had to drill extra holes b.t.w.) and replaced the electronics. Bought a set of GFS Alnico Pro II pickups (great sounding!), a decent (though budget) selector switch and CTS pots. Now the strat sounds awesome. I can recommend this to any Made in China or Indonesia Squier strat player

Very tidy work, indeed.

Any issues as to fitting? I noticed you chose not to use a USA style blade switch.

yes Bubban0v, you are completely right. I used a "made in Japan" pickguard, and a USA style switch doesn't fit on the pickguard; The holes to mount the switch do not line up. Also because it is a japanese pickguard, the CTS pots I used did'nt fit either. The pickguard is ment for metric pots, so I had to drill out the holes a little bit to accomodate the CTS pots.

Haha Steve G :-)

Nothing to do with the airforce.. well maybe something to do with the army I guess. My father tought me how to solder, and he was 15 years in the REME regiment.
