Drop CS69 pups into a JV?

I love my Jimmy Vaughan and don't actually mind the pups. But I've heard a lot of good things about the CS69s.

Another option would be to trade for a Classic Player 60s (I was just reading the long thread about whether they have true CS69 pups - sounds like they are but just not wound by Abigail)...

That's what I've been told by Fender. They said they're made in the Custom Shop - just not wound by AY. Best sounding Strat pup IMHO.

I think that would be a great match-up, myself.
big fan of the CS 69s here!!

I put some in my MIJ '67 reissue Strat and it's a keeper.

To me, the CS69's might come closer to the Hendrix tone.. but for SRV.. I think there are better choices.. like the 57/62's in the Fender line, the Fralin Vintage Hots, Lollar Blondes, etc..

Of course, you could put JH or SRV's actual guitars in my hands through their same rigs, and I would not get close to sounding like them with either one! :)

The '69s are definitely more of the Hendrix vibe.

Great pickups.
