"Secret Conspiracy" an answer to "Secret Agent Man" - Video
Hi All,
I decided to call this "Secret conspiracy" as a modest answer to "Secret Agent Man". I hope you like it. I had a bad sounding midi file as backing, so excuse the sound (and the mistakes and missed bends, it's live). "SECRET CONSPIRACY" I guess I could have waited for my new guitar (see below, new "Epiphone Sheraton II vintage Sunburst") just ordered today to play it ($375 - Guitar Center). I wonder if I can fit a tremolo bar on it as I really need one. I can't wait to try it with my Fender Hot Rod Deville. They say they are made for each other (?). I am thrilled as I now will be able to play Swing tunes and other tunes with a thick and full tone. The Strat's sound has been generally thin for me. Here is the picture: " "Greetings, Abel |

Hey Abel, thanks a lot for posting that. My band has been playing that for a while and I really appreciate the really cool twist you put on the main riff and chorus. Your melodic solo has given me some ideas too...
I was playing it Ventures-Dick Dale-Junior Brown style and you took it to a new level. Congrats on the Sheraton II, they are great guitars and will complement your Strats nicely. Although it will be weird seeing you play anything other that a Strat! They really seem to suit your music. |

Suh-weet playing, makes me want to take the strings off my guitars and hide them in the closet.
The only thing I didn't care for when going too my Epi Dot from my strat is the particular "muddy" sound of the pups. Even with the full Gibson electronics upgrade. It takes a bit of get used too...and I never did... so I slapped a .015 cap on the neck and now it's quite acceptable. I only use the bridge with distortion when I'm doing things a "Semi Hollow Body isn't supposed to be able to do" according too my buddy :) |

Abelk:
i wish you had tried a Telecaster. To me it solves the thin Strat sound issue. The thinline semi-hollow body will be a little muddy in sound, primarily due to the humbuckers. I have a discontinued Gibson ES-347 and while it nails most songs well, the Telecaster sounds clearer, with a big sound. I have 2 strats, 2 Gibsons, and 1 Telecaster. I preferentially play the Tele for my performances. It's my number one. It took me 20 years to find this out, as my Tele is my newest, only 2 yrs old. Still that Sheraton looks sooo nice; it will sound great! I hate modifications, because I think I'm harming the value of the guitar. So the next guitar is a Tele with a Bigsby, and 4-way switch. |
