Rock on. Make it a baritone. Make it a bass. I think he got around the issue of neck dive.

I bet my 70's strat still weighs more!

That swimming pool route ain't going to do wonders for the resonance.

That's funny. I believe he's doing a marble neck as well. Should sound heavy...

Is he going to relic it by putting hot saucepans on it, or by chopping onions?

Eh, how is he going to screw the hardware to the body?

Well, it'll be a nice table top decoration. He could but one of those wheels on the bottom and make a lazy susan. Or he could tell Susan to go get a job.

I'm guessing that is a Squier body, based on what looks like laminate layers in the pickup route?
Very nice finish though. Maybe you could give us a lesson in doing it.
Thanks for sharing.

Sustain 4evah!

Many years ago I tossed around the idea of a cast concrete guitar body !

Can't wait to hear clips!

That's nuts.
Is the control cavity deep enough to accommodate the switches, etc.?

I remember hearing about a mid80s attempt by Fender to make a granite guitar. Sustain forever, but you couldn't strap it on without risking spinal damage.

I don't know how he's gonna attach things yet. I'm curious myself. It was all done on a CNC.

Exactly which type of countertop material is this thing? Is this Granite, or Corian, or a synthetic stone product of which there are quite a few?

Great Post!

Tell him to relax... there's a Tele and a Strat made of Corian in the Fender Museum...

I remember an interview with Roy Buchanan where he talks about his granite guitar. He said it was heavy, but it would ring for days. I never saw a photo of it.

isn't that the synthetic contertop stuff. friend of mine makes harmonca combs out of that. it's not that heavy and it holds a thread or threaded insert fairly well. can't sound any worse than an armstrong or fender lucite body guitar...........................cool.

I haven't seen it in person yet, but he said it is marble. He's going to use anchors to affix parts to it.

I think the brand name of that stuff is corriann. my bathroom vanity is made of that. you can see the resin qualities in the surfaces of the routed cavities.
it's like when you build a house for $80k and say your getting marble vanity top, it's not really marble. it's still freakin' cool!!!!!!!!!!!
