Seafoam Strat finally polished

I felt like a kid looking for Christmas waiting on the laquer to dry. Now I can finally get on with the assembly.

Nice look!! So, what was the process? How many coats and clear coats did you need to get that shine??

I pretty much followed the procedure at Reranch, which is where I bought the paint.

http://www.reranch.com/basics.htm

Couple coats of grain sealer, sanding in between. A couple coats of deft sanding sealer, sanding in between. BIN primer then one can of color about 9 coats. I wet-sanded the color to remove orange peel. Then almost two cans of Reranch clear. Wet-sended with 1000, 1200, 1500 and 2000. Polished with Scratch-X and finished with Finesse-It II.

Are you sure you waited long enough to polish? It still looks wet to me!

I did adjust the neck, saddles and set intonation but I only played it for a couple minutes. One of the pickups came DOA, so apart it came & the bridge pickup is shipping back for a replacement. It feels great and soon I'll put some serious playing time on it.

Since I tend to look at the glass being half full, I'm looking at this being a lesson learned. Note to self: in the future test pickups before installing!

Sure thing, the body is poplar from Warmoth. Neck is Allparts SMF - 22 frets with 12" radius. Gotoh Kluson tuners. Pups are Keystones from Bill Lawrence. Bridge is vintage hardtail from Callaham. Tusq nut from Graphtech. Nitro laquer from reranch. Dunlop strap locks. The only fender parts on it are the knobs & switch tip.

Wow, you didn't mess around, did you? Sounds like a great guitar. Yeah, I didn't even notice the missing trem cavity until you pointed out the hardtail. Nice job all around!

Wow, does that look good. I've often thought about building a guitar--and I'd like to build one just like yours after seeing it!

I appreciate all the kind words. I hung around here looking at all the fine guitars that were being built and soaking up information from the experts and finally I just had to do it. Thanks to everybody that helped by showing the way!

A confession; I like Seafoam better than Surf and Daphne better than Sonic. The darker greens and blues just seem to catch the eye.
