Floyd Rose Trem question....

I'm building a single humbucker, Floyd Rose locking trem equiped Tele and need to know if it is necessary to use the the Floyd Rose Rose locking nut and just use it same as a Strat trem (I do realize it defeats the purpose of the locking trem). Originally I was going to build a hardtail but saw a Mick Mars GGG body from KnE guitars routed for the Floyd Rose trem and went for it!
Should this be in the Strat forum because of the Floyd Rose, or Tele forum....hmmm

Glad I'm not alone. I've always wanted to build a guitar with a Floyd and a bone nut. I think Adrian Belew has his Strats set up that way, except he uses Kahlers. You should be able to get away with it if you use locking tuners and don't wind the strings more than 3/4 of a wrap. You can get it close by pulling the string taut with pliers before locking it down. The biggest thing is to get the nut slots perfect with no binding.

I'm getting ready to put together a Kramer Tele I've been collecting parts for over a 4 or 5 year period. Since I'm going with the Hockey Stick headstock I'm going to use a locking nut. I have two Beak headstock necks, one with a Floyd nut and one with a regular nut rout. But I'm going more for the pointy look and will probably be selling the other necks.

This is the body I ordered, the GGG.

I really like the sound of the bridge humbucker in my Strat, but I'm selling that and ordering this to build around a MIM neck I really like that's on a guitar I am really dissappointed in. (Yes, rather convoluted sentence, and I guess logic too!). When I ordered it, I didn't even think about the locking nut, but the more I think about it, it should work just the same as a Strat trem - if not a block of wood jammed in there will cure any problems until I get a neck with locking nut, or have my MIM Tele neck converted. Now that would be different.
Like to see some pics when you're done.

Here are a couple I've got in pieces right now:

I'm going to get on the Kramer pretty soon. I had a few health and financial setbacks over the last couple of years so I got pretty discouraged and stopped doing just about anything. But I'm going to finish at least the Kramer before I start anything else.

I'm going to wait a while to do the Floyd with no locking nut thing. I've got a few sets of pickups waiting for wood, so it'll be a while before I get to it. If I only had the money to match my ideas...
