First purchase in forever..is Squier Bullet!

I've been a local/regional gigging guitar guy for a long time and have been settled in with my Tele and Strat choices for quite awhile, with no serious new purchases. I was at the local GC last night and felt like playing through a Deluxe Reverb for a few minutes, and I grabbed a sunburst Squier Bullet Strat (I didn't know what it was and had not heard of that model). I plugged it in and was knocked out by the guitar - it felt so smooth, played so easy, and...amazingly...sounded so good, that I thought I would look at the price tag. Of course, I was stunned to see that it was $99 new. Had to buy it! (I couldn't resist taking some very expensive Strats off the wall and comparing them to this Squier, and finding that the Squier hung right in there in terms of playability, feel, and "Strat mojo").
As everyone who has been posting in the Squier Bullet Strat threads already knows, these are very impressive Strats. I really cannot find anything wrong with this guitar, and it just feels so easy and comfortable to play, with the nice piano-note type clarity that I love, and with no dead spots or notes choking off high up on the neck. I would take it out to a gig tonight.
I have played it very heavily today and cannot complain about the very full tone of the stock pickups - they don't have that sterile "clanky" tone that I normally associate with low-price Squiers.
What's next, nice new Strats for ten bucks!?

I had the same experience. Went in to buy a Squier '51 back in December and liked the hardtail Strat Bullet better. Then I played the Bullet next to similarly set up Strats, including Custom Shop models, all through a reissue Bassman. I liked the Bullet better than any other Strat I tried. Warmer and clearer sounding. Well set up, comfy, very playable.

I got a white one awhile back, and it's very nice. I just wish I had known at the time they came in pink; I would have held out... Saw some pastel green (seafoam?) ones this weekend, too -- great color!

I was looking for a cheap guitar for a friends son to start playing guitar on. I played the same Squier and couldn't believe how good it was and it was only $99
