Bill Lawrence Wilde pups
Hey Guys, I just got got my Wilde set(noiseless) installed on Sat. Oh My God! these are so great sounding, they're in my MIM strat as follows: S280n/S280m/S290L.
The wiring is vol. for all three, tone ctrl for neck & lead pups only. Man I'm amazed how musical they are, very acoustic-like, very chimey & transparent. Also very touch sensitive. I play thru a Palomino 15watt "Class A" it has a s.s. rectifier so I'm not sure if that means it's true class A or what, but I know it sounds real good. Even better with these pups in my strat. Highly recommended. You can turn it up pretty much to 10 with the drive & gain set about 1-2 oclock & stay clean, then dig in with the pick & get very responsive grind. The 290L is a little bright as I had to back off the tone a little but I'll be experimenting with the height adjustment also to get my sweet-spot. The 290 sounds as Becky described in between a strat & P90 Not too fat at all though. The n/m & m/br sounds are heavenly! I went from Jazz, Country, Blues, to R&R & it's all there. That's how these pups are sounding so far. I haven't yet turned the gain up to test the pups but I'm sure they're not going to disapoint me. Happy camper here!!! Brian

I like Bill's pickup offerings quite a bit. I use an L200SN noiseless in my Strat's neck and Keystone true single coils for the middle and bridge ... and an L280TN and L298LE for my Thinline.
BTW, no matter what Crate sez, yer Palomino isn't Class A, it's Class A/B. |

Lemme put it to ya in another way - if it's a tube amp, and there are at least two power tubes, consider it NOT to be Class A. There ARE some multi power tube amps that are Class A, but those are boutique amps that are few and far between. Most single ended (single power tube) amps (i.e. - Champs) are true Class A.
