Pickup Configuration?
This is probably a stupid question, but here goes...
What determines how each pickup on Strat sounds? Is it the way they are made or is it their placement in the wiring scheme? The reason I ask is this...I'm planing a build in which I'd like to use the middle TexMex pup from my Nashville Tele as the neck pup on my Strat. Will it sound like a Strat Neck pickup or not? I'd like any & all input you guys can offer. Thanks.

In order of how much difference it makes
1) Position - this is what gives individiual PUPs their characteristic sound 2) Wiring - applicable more for the in-between positions 3) Construction - usually voiced differently to compensate for their position eg bridge PUs are typically a combination of higher output, more midrange and less trebles. And yes, the middle TexMex will function perfectly as a neck PU in your strat - in fact, that's probably what it is. Trevor |

Thanks, Trevor. I'm pumped about my build. Its a little different. I'm putting a chrome covered PAF in the bridge & I'm running 1 volume & 1 tone. Using Tele Chrome Domes. I'll post pics when its done. Peace!
