Trem arms and gig bags
I know the owner's manual says to remove the trem arm before putting a Strat into her case, but what about those of you who use soft gig bags - do you remove the trem arm before carrying your Strat in a gig bag - and have any of you had catastrophic problems if you don't?

Funny, I never left it in when putting it in a gig bag... way too much could go wrong there! But I'm not a fan of gig bags to begin with. It's better than nothing, but I'm always afraid someone or something will bump into it and make me cry.
However, I if I move it down somewhere between 4 and 8 o'clock, it fits perfectly in the hard case I bought for her.

If a Trem arm is rebent into a usable shape (Not like from Fender)...when placed at 8 o'clock, fits nicely in almost any case or Gig Bag...If I had a pic handy, I'd show ya.

I leave mine on, in a gig bag. But I'm not a toss it/throw it/slop it around kind of guy, and I'm always very careful.

Ok as long as I'm not getting a thousand responses saying that it throws the tuning too far off, or the arm breaks, I'm going to be leaving the arm on, turned back around to eight o'clock. Maybe I'll get a nice relic mark where the handle is going to hit the body when its in the case.
By the way my guitar teacher (never too old for lessons) said he always leaves it on. Besides that means I won't have to replace the wrap of teflon tape I have around the threads (works better than the little spring to keep the arm from swinging and makes it feel tighter).
