Help With Boss Be5(80's) Compressor Settings....

I have a very old Boss Be5 pedal board(80's) with Chorus, Delay, OD/Dist, Noisegate and Compressor. Can someone give me some usable settings for the Compressor, ie: sustain, etc. I've played around with it but don't really understand how to use one effectively for country, rock, blues, etc. It's controls are the basic individual type Boss pedal controls(dials) that go from 7 o'clock to 5 o'clock, hope that makes sense! If you could give me clock settings to try that would be particularly helpful. They are Level/Tone/Attack/Sustain. I like to use Delay. What settings would augment the Delay, OD, Chorus, etc. Any help from the experts would be greatly appreciated. Thank You....
p.s.-I have a Tele and a Strat and David Gilmour type combinations of Delay and Compressor would be particularly desired! Thanks again.

A good starting point is to put all the controls at 12 o clock and maybe use a lower attack setting for a softer snap or perhaps push the sustain further. The Boss units are not so transparent but I used to use my cs-3 for a long time for a bit of a volume boost to fatten things up and give a bit more sustain.
I used vol at 1 o clock and sustain at 11 o clock for a more subtle compression.
Gilmour uses the cs-2 in his live rig so you will be in the ballpark.

Use the delay at 500ms up with repeats at maybe 10-11 o clock and remember that to get the Gilmour tone it helps to have a digital reverb unit, you can use a small rackmount one or something like the Boss RV or Marshall reflector.

Boss Be5

Thanks Winny. I haven't tried your settings yet(too early here), but I've written them down. I have a Fender Champion 30 DSP here at home to experiment with and it has a whole array of digital effects including reverb. I'll give that a try. I've already nailed that funky intro, delay extravaganza from "Run Like Hell" on my Tele, but want to try some of his Strat stuff. Anybody have any other suggestions, again, particularly regarding the compressor? Thank You.
