Guyatone Mini-Effects

I have their orange mini-OD pedal which is my favorite overdrive pedal ever.

Has anyone else tried any of their other pedals. I was thinking of ordering one up. Possibly the tremolo, the phase shifter or the compressor but I'm open to suggestions. I love the fact that they don't have tone controls - and don't need them either.

Flange

I have the flange. (Pink One)

I have a real Ibanez FL9 in great shape and the Guyatone blows it away. I will never trade or give up any of my Ibanez "9" series pedals but the Guyatone Flanger is suberb and versitaile. It has a three way micro switch for chorus-mild flange-heavy flange. All three setting are fantastic. . I too hate tone pots on pedals and the speed and depth knobs combined with the three wasy micro switch are all you need. Sound is lush.

Guyatone's website has many very realistic sound files of their effects pedals. www.guyatone.com

Guyatone compressor

I had the Guyatone mini compressor and it was as good as any that I've ever had including the Barber Tone Press, Carl Martin and other high $ compressors IMHO.
I just don't use compression much so I sold it, but I'm wanting to try some of the other Guyatone pedals.
Also I had the Wah Rocker way back before they were even selling Guyatone in the USA, it was pretty cool, and supposedly they have tweaked the design to improve it since then.

I really like the guyatone stuff. I have most of them. IMHO they're generallly pretty good sounding pedals, with some character to them.

I think their website is one of the best I've seen with better than average descriptions. I love the way they have the demos showing the pedal at different settings.

I've emailed Godlyke a few times- a very cool company to deal with. They will send you extra rubber rings free. BTW the rings are more durable than they appear.

OD-2 over drive- cool overdrive in the TS style
HD-2 harm dist - Big Muff type distortion fuzz
TZ-2 fuzz - vintage fuzz with a touch of octave-rude and nasty in a good way.
SV-2 slow vol- slow gear at a reasonable price- a great novelty pedal.
ST-2 comp- a very natural sounding compressor that lets you blend in the straight signal.

Chorus - ok middle of the road chorus
md-2 Micro delay - IMHO one of the best DD's out there-warmer than most digital units-sucks batteries
Tr-3 Tremelo-nice tone but has a bit of boost that may be a hassle if you want to switch on and off a lot.
Fl-2 Flanger-mine is somewhat noisy - need to see if something can be done.
WR-2 Wah rocker - I bought this before the guyatone stuff was officially avaialble in the US - very cool envelope filter, less finicky than most. Better for funk chords than Garcia leads. I want to try the new WR-3.

Delay

I am using the Guyatone delay and really love it. I bought it because of it size but I now find that it is one of the best delays that I have heard. I really love the slap back.

Do they have true-bypass or buffered?

I have the Slow Volume

I use the Guyatone Slow Volume pedal when I want to get a Pedal Steel/Volume Swell effect when playing lap steel. It took some tweaking to get the desired sound but once a dialed in the right settings I found that it works very well for my purposes. I've never tried any other guyatone pedals but this one is well constructed and reliable. Hope this helps

Wraparound-They're not true bypass, but their bypass is very transparent . I'm a little finicky about that and I haven't had any problems.

I have the TZ2 and it could benefit from a tone control - it's a little harsh in the high end for my liking and lacking in midrange. it's also very dependant on the amp it's run through. But it's cool and cheap so I keep it around.

I was interested in the trem, but I hear its got an ungodly volume boost - like 3dB - when engaged, so I don't much dig that.

I love the MD-3 micro delay!

Flexibility of a Digital unit, really warm delays, and a tiny footprint...so what's not to like? :)

I've got the mini tremolo (VT-3 I think) and use it sparingly but it sounds great to me. As someone mentioned before, it's got a slight volume boost which might be annoying in certain situations. If you use it throughout the entire song I imagine it wouldn't be a big deal. I actually turn down both knobs sometimes and use it for a slight volume boost after an overdrive pedal. I've heard nothing but good things about Guyatone pedals.
