What improvement did you find in the Boss over the EB? I have an EB 6166 which is OK, but I would prefer an even more smooth taper, even when its on the smoother of its two settings. I'd be interested in your comments.

I've used an Ibanez VL10 for the past 25 years. I keep saying I'm going to try a new one ( Boss, EB, Hinton, et all ) one of these days, but the ol' VL-10 just 'keeps on chuglin'. Many pedals have come and gone in that time, but hte VL10 is the only pedal that has remained constant on my board and the one I've used each and every time I play out.

I only play Sundays for worship these days, but back in the day, it got a 4-5 hour workout 6-7 nights a week for 5 years straight. It's plastic, but built very well. The only thing I've ever done to it was spray the pot once a few years ago to get rid of a crackle. It went away and has worked like a charm ever since.. I keep expecting it to give up the ghost one of these days, but so far, it's been the best pedal type purchase I ever made.

I had an older DeArmond before this one and while it was built like tank, the taper did not work as well for me as the Ibanez.

The Boss 500H looks like a winner though. I'll have to check one out in person. For my style of play, a volume pedal is essential.

my rythym player uses the dearmond LOL. hes lookin into a fv500h now. the ernie ball works by string that is known for breakin. ernie balls dont. the boss has adjustable volume control. meanin you (heel back to maxed out) can go from 0 to 10 1/2 to 10 from 9 to 10. if that akes any sense. it has a torque adjustd feel.

I love the Boss FV-500H volume pedal! This pedal does not tone suck like the Ernie Ball does.I was going to buy a Hilton before I tried the Boss but this thing sounds so good why bother?

My Ernie Ball

Yep, Ernie Ball volume pedal. Two sweep settings. Both are loud when it's all the way up. It's really old. What about that Visual something or other pedal... ah, Visual Sound?

updated and WAY better. fv500 has

adjustable pedal feel
volume level adjustment (o to max) or (8 to max) and in between
no string to worry about breaking like an ernie ball
feels better( personal opinion)
comes in high and low impediance models
