Route 66
Anybody have any experience using a VisualSound Route 66 Comp/Overdrive combo pedal? There are tons of great reviews for it over at Harmony-Central, but I was wondering if anyone here has used one/has one.
Any impressions/thoughts? Thanks, Derek |

Route 66
Great pedal and a darn' good compressor. Not a tone sucker. A friend of mine in our band had the Keeley mod done on the overdrive part and it's the best $50.00 he ever spent.(and he's the Ebay King). I'm going to send my TS-9 to Keeley as soon as the Christmas gig Money comes in.

A nice pedal, indeed...
I had one and enjoyed the TS side quite a bit. It has a bass boost switch that worked pretty well, too, but it would add a little more gain when you turn it on. I felt that the compressor side was pretty noisy and glassy.
I did not like the bypass sound of the pedal. Although I'm usually not bothered by buffered bypass circuit, in this case I noticed a bump in the presence and it somehow made the overall sound too glassy for me. |

Sorry I'm late, but I just noticed this thread.
I have a Rt. 66 and a 1-Spot AC adapter. This is a great pedal. Excellent compressor and classic OD indeed. The OD is nice and thick, and the compressor can fatten things up nicely. You can get clean or dirty boost on up. It works especially well with my Teles. The pedal seems very transparent when it's off, and its buffering does indeed seem to improve the signal quality of other pedals that follow it -- this has been particularly noticeable with my EH Memory Man, which is noisier when used alone than when following the Rt. 66 in the chain. I have even used the OD side to record direct to disk through my FMR Audio RNP, and the results were surprisingly good. I am very pleased with this pedal.
