Analog delay pedals - I'm buying one, but which!?
I have it down to:
Boss dm-3 BYOC HBE Mock I Analogman delay I can't decide. The delay will be used in conjunction with and as an extension of by analogman dd5. I'm pretty much just going to add echo to another echo pedal. Anyone have suggestions as to which one might work out best?

BYOC clip - http://www.mercuryrisingrocks.com/Media/Delay.mp3
Mock 1 clip - http://homebrewelectronics.com/soundsamples/DELAY.mp3 neither really sounds as good as the analogman. |

I have the Analogman AR20DL and haven't looked for any other Delays since. It has a very warm and natural tone. I haven't tried any of the others on your list, so I can't give a comparison.

The Maxon analog delay (http://www.maxonfx.com/vintage/ad999/) seems to get a lot of love.

Analog Delays
Just got the 600ms AR20DL from Mike, it sounds great. Only tried it thru my modded Champ 600 so far with a Texas Tele (Kinman AVN48s) and a Godin A6 Ultra. But, so far so good.
I've owned an original Ibanez AD9, a Maxon AD9 (AM modded), and various digital ones over time. So far, I'm thinkin' this new one is the best sounding. Very smooth and rounded. Doesn't seem to be a volume drop like the AD9s. But, haven't gigged with it yet. I really don't anticipate any issues though. Mike's stuff is always top drawer. I have many AM modded and original pedals from him and they are all good............... |

I would be running this with a modded dd5 done by him. I have been looking on ebay for the last few days, no luck though. There aren't any for sale right now on his site, right? |

Well, if you check his site, he says he gets batches in every 2 or 3 weeks. Plus, consideration is given for "old" repeat customers it seems...........Also, maybe the 300 ms ones are the high demand
Guess you could figure his last batch was in the past week or so. So, check his buy site regular in 2 weeks or so. But hey, I'm entitled, I waited about a year and a half for a BiComp so...... |

I really like my Maxon. The warmth of my sound is maintained, which is an important consideration for me.

I have a DM3 from ebay (about 2 years) Very warm sound. Have not A/B'ed it with any others but it's noticeably warmer than a digital delay. The Maxxon looks like it would be a great "brand new" pedal with true by-pass but isn't that a lot of money???

The only thing I didn't like about it was that the delay time is actually short , and wouldn't quite manage Setzers Sleepwalk . That is the ONLY think I don't like about it though . Everything else is absolutely wonderful . Just to make you all sick , I actually won mine on Ebay brand new for about £18 he he My favourite |

...I like the...
...SIB "Mr. Echo"...with a "delay',"repeat","mix',and volume control...fairly inexpensive too!!!...if you set the volume just a tad higher than your normal playing volume,it acts as a nice little gain boost when kicked in...it's very clean, just like Paulie's grandfather...
