Any Premier reverb users???
I've been thinking about getting one of these reverb units from the 60's.
I know they are used alot by harp guys. I want to use it with my Gretsch and a Pro Jr. Any body know of anything positive or negative about them?

Premiere Reverb
I had one of the old units for a while. I bought it from Chris Boyd, who used to frequent the old TDP. Besides being a tube reverb, it also had a small amplifier built into the circuit. Not enough juice to use alone, but you could hit the front end of your amp harder if necessary. My complaint: too noisy. I replaced caps and tubes and still the same result. I sold the unit and started using a quick slap delay instead of reverb.

Premier Reverb
I had one also some years ago, it didn't sound as good as a Fender, was noisy etc....
Danelectro made some seperate tube reverb units too, but they sound pretty cheesy. I'd say if you HAVE to have a tube reverb - get a used Fender Reverb , also have read good things about the Peavey Valverb unit. If ou go the non tube reverb route there are lots of good options, in fact I'm getting to where I prefer the non spring reverb lately. |
