Questions about selling pedals
I'm still considering what I might part with, but I think it might be time to thin the stompbox herd around here. I have more (read: TOO MUCH!) experience with buying, than I do selling. I've never sold anything over the net, browsed eBay, any of that stuff. So I'm seeking advice from those among you that have. I thought it might be cool to first offer up anything I'd be parting with to folks here at the TDPRI community on the Garage Sale.
What is the best reference source for FAIR pricing, that's good for both seller & buyer? Do most folks list a "no haggle" price, or mark up a bit for negotiation? I'm not interested in taking anyone for a ride, but also don't care to take a beating myself! Is it safe to assume that most buyers would prefer to have velcro backing left on pedals, for application to a pedalboard? Or should velcro backing be removed & the little rubber feet be put back on the bottom? I think I have original boxes for most items, but if not, should the price be adjusted? How so? Any other words from the wise? Oh, & if this post in any way approaches SPAM, or is in questionable ethics, by all means, please let me know! Thanks, Tim

ebay
check prices at ebay and you'll have a good idea what things are worth...I think it's nice of you to offer members first crack at them...and the pedals will never make it to ebay...the guys around here will eat em up...good luck...don

You should be able to get a good idea from a local music store - newer, non-collectible pedals generally seem to go for about 50-60% of their new price, depending on condition. Vintage pedals, of course, are a different story. Having the original boxes, literature, etc. is definitely a bonus, but I find it doesn't affect the price very much. Same with the velcro - some will like it, some won't. Of course, the other option is to trade them.

Yeah Tim,
What pedals are we talkin about? You probably could sell them right here. Just watch out for scammers. I have read that some people have been scammed by some foriegn shakedown artists in the garage sale forum. If somebody sends you a weird email ignore it. |

Tim,
I'd prefer the option of velcro and rubber feet if you still have the feet! Most folks are gonna either have a board or not have much opinion...the price will raise considerations of course. eBay is a good source to find market value on many things. You may or may not find your exact piece in same shape etc. but you'll get a good idea what the range is. You'll get topdollar on there these days, but I'm sure a post around the TDPRI garage sale will bring you much needed pedal relief and create some $$$ for your G.A.S. that must be wandering another non-pedal path...

Hey, thank you guys for the advice & interest. I'm still trying to figure out which of my babies I have the heart to sell down the river, LOL... but there's a variety of cool noisemakers... & I'm gonna put some thought into pricing - can't see myself going for the throat with fellow TDPRI guys, I'd save that for Harmony Central, heh heh...
I probably wouldn't be doing this if I wasn't lusting for a Victoria Double Deluxe in a major way... GAS am a powerful beast, I bet y'all can relate...
